Capital Punishment for Reprobates.
Text: Jeremiah 15:1-7.
Memory Verse: Jeremiah 15:1, 'Then said the Lord unto me, though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people, cast them out of my sight and let them go forth'.
One of the reprobate animals that God created is goat and one of the qualities that is associated with this animal is that it defies correction. And as a result of the defiant attitude of this animal, it is exposed to harsh beating and several degrees of torment. The question i want to ask now is that, 'do you know that some believers share this horrible attitude with goat?'.
Ofcourse, when we see an unbeliever behaving like a goat, 'refusing to yield to the commandment of God', it shouldn't be strange, why, because they are just displaying their real identity, but it becomes an abomination when a sheep is behaving like a goat.
This was the controversy that God had with the people of Israel in Jeremiah 15:1-7, before this time, the Almighty God had so much invested in the lives of these people, and God expected that this people whom He had redeemed from the curse of the wicked would serve Him for the rest of their life, but it was quite unfortunate that they forsook God and began to worship the works of their hand. Due to the strange attitude of this people, God now vowed that "I will refrain my mercy from these people"; and as a result, God subjected them to series of unbearable punishment and death.
As you look at the world in this present dispensation, you will discover the eagerness of men to commit sin. Holiness and righteousness had become a strange practice in this age, and as a result of all these evil, the anger of God had aroused against many nations of the world, due to the rebellious nature of man, it seems as if the merciful God is no longer merciful. One thing we must understand as a christian is that the wrath of God will always be upon the wicked.
