OUR ULTIMATE SALVATION IS CLOSER
(Romans 13:11)
But I am saved already, what then is the ultimate salvation?
It is no more news or mystery that we have salvation in phases. These phases comes at different times in the life of a believer. We have the Instant Salvation and the Ultimate Salvation.
Instant Salvation
This salvation is the first phase of salvation. It describes everyone's chance at being saved. It is what everyone has been called unto. A price has been paid for it. The blood of a sinless being was used to blot out the transgressions and consequences earlier brought in by another man. John 3:16 describes this salvation. This is open to everyone, it is the prerequisite for the other phase of salvation. The Instant Salvation is what happens when anyone confesses Christ as his Lord and Savior. This phase of salvation is the one that comes by open confession.
Romans 10:9-10; "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
Ultimate Salvation
This is the final phase of salvation. It requires that believers play a part.
Philippians 2:12 "Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;"
Because, not everyone would transit (die) to eternal glory immediately after the Instant Salvation (like it happened with the thief on the right hand of Christ at crucifixion), we must do something as long as we live - we must live for God! The Instant Salvation is free and it comes by grace. But the Ultimate Salvation requires a price to pay,
Matthew 16:24 "Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me."
Our Ultimate Salvation is what we work towards by embarking on this race of faith and running it with patience, Hebrews 12:1. Many have made it through and they are watching our moves, they hope we finish well! They are the witnesses described in Hebrews 12:1;
"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,"
All what the Bible says in Hebrews 12:1 are ways we can work out our salvation day after day, with fear and trembling. God has begun the work of our salvation by giving us The Blood of Christ for our redemption, He wants us to carry it out unto the end.
The ultimate salvation will only be possible and realistic after we have formed a strong partnership with the Holy Spirit of God.
Remember, this age is running to a close; let us learn from Men of Issachar - they were commended because they understand the times, they really do.
If perhaps, you have not even embraced the instant salvation and you are willing to do so now, say these words with all sincerity of heart:
"Dear Lord, I acknowledge Your sacrifice for me;
I blow my heart open for You as I accept You as my Lord and Savior;
Come in and reside with me.
Thank You Dear Lord."
Having done this, fellowship with the brethren at any Bible believing church and continue to grow in His grace.
Those who have stood fast, please keep it up, the Lord is your strength. I have a word for you, 1Corinthians 15:58; "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."
