What Do Men Ought To Do?
Luke 18:1
At one point in life or the, men will definitely be in need of something; physically, materially, financially and most of all spiritually. But many people lack the persistence in the place of prayer. Many people think if they pray once and the answer is not forth coming, then it marks the end of it; this ought not to be...Men ought always to pray.
Believers are meant to be persistent in the place of prayer. Psalms 86:3 (Be merciful to me, O Lord: for I cry to you daily) shows that the Psalmist had done a lot in prayer but the answers are yet to come. But he still believes that with persistence, he can move God's hand...Men ought always to pray.
At times, our persistence is required not because God was sleeping when we were praying the first time; not because He did not hear our prayers, not because he hates us; but because persistence can reflect how much we need those things we need. It can also reflect our patience and perseverance which are parts of God's strength...Men ought always to pray.
Take blind Bartimaeus for an example (Mark 10:46-52); after he found out that the Saviour was passing by, Jesus already passed him, but he still heard the great noise that followed and he cried out: "Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me." The only reply he got was from the people around him asking him to keep quiet. But Bartimaeus wasn't moved, and the Bible says: "he cried out even louder", and Jesus called out to him and his blindness became history on the spot...Men ought always to pray.
Remember, 1Thess 5:17 "Pray without ceasing."
God bless you!
