A SURE EVENT
Text: Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble. Job 14:1
This topic got one thinking. Hebrew 9:27a says: 'It is appointed unto man once to die. Of everything in life is thing is certain of every created being, even animals; Death is inevitable'.
Nobody prays not to die; have you ever wondered why people don't pray not to die, they only pray to live long. Death come to men from different sources. Many Christians ignorantly die prematurely, and some believers pray to avert their deaths at a bigger risk.
From Where does Death Come?
In the beginning, death wasn't a part of God's plan. But the fall of man gave birth to death.
Death from God; There are times that God decides that a man's time is up. Death comes from God, but in due time. There are times that God decides to give rest to His own by taking them away in death to prevent them from witnessing bad or faith-shaking circumstances ahead. God is all-knowing, He knows what lies ahead of every man, so He protects His own people;
Isaiah 57:1; "The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart:
and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come."
Many believers have missed the glory set before them simply because they averted their death ignorantly like King Hezekiah did; yes! God was involved, but his end wasn't so good.
From the devil; this is one thing the devil does to destroy potential champions. There are times that the devil afflicts and destroys potential champions. He wastes them and blow the destinies off. Many believers have ignorantly given in to this wickedness from the devil. Like the early church did;
Acts 12:1-5;
1. Now about that time Herod the king stretched out his hand to harass some from the church.
2. Then he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
3. And because he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to seize Peter also. Now it was during the Days of Unleavened Bread.
4. So when he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Passover.
5. Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.
If the church had not risen to intercede against Peter's arrest, I'm sure Herod would have succeeded again. It's high time believers stopped giving in to the devil. It's high time we put on the whole armor of God.
Self-Caused Death
Many stars have been plucked out of the sky due to the life they live. Many young people have jeopardized their life span just because of terrible mistakes. The first commandment with a promise says: Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long, Ephesians 6:2. Now, if a young man or woman have dishonored his parents, what happens afterwards? Hasn't he drawn a curse on himself? Believers Beware!
Believers shouldn't be afraid of death, because believers don't die. We only transit to glory.
