Letter To Our Churches (VII)

LETTER TO OUR CHURCHES (VII)
Revelations 3:14-22

Under out spotlight today is the church in Laodicea. Unlike the other six churches, there was nothing commendable about this church. They were condemned throughout Jesus' letter to them. Jesus had an eye on them, "I know your deeds..." Revelations 3:15a. He gave them time hoping they will repent.

The church in Laodicea was sitting over the fence that parts godliness and worldliness. They felt they could mock God. They felt their tracks could be covered. They were not hot and neither were they cold. Jesus emphasized on their lukewarmness. Jesus had nothing to do with them because of their conflicting beliefs and doubts about spiritual things.

One other painful thing is that they suffered spiritual blindness; this restricted them from having a clear view/reflection of what their lives looked like. They then claimed to be rich, blessed and self-sufficient. Materially, they were rich; financially, they were flourishing; but spiritually, they were not only poor, they were wretched. They did not even know they were in a pitiful condition. Spiritual blindness made their conditions worse because they couldn't see their needs and imperfections. The Laodicean church was filled with self-deceived hypocrites.

Many believers' lives have been x-rayed above. Now I am telling you that material wealth ends here on earth; they have no eternal benefit. Jesus has the true spiritual riches with Him;
Isaiah 55:1-2;
“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, 55
Come to the waters;
And you who have no money,
Come, buy and eat.
Yes, come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without price.
Why do you spend money for what is not bread, 2
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And let your soul delight itself in abundance."

Only Christ can supply an everlasting inheritance; He alone can clothe you in righteousness. He is the only Physician that can heal our spiritual blindness. He is not just a physician, He is the Great Physician.

Jesus is sending out this warning because He loves us dearly, Revelations 3:19; "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent." He only discipline and rebuke those He loves. He is standing at the door of your heart knocking, please let Him in, Revelations 3:20; "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."
