ONE DAY AT A TIME

ONE DAY AT A TIME

Text: Give us this day our daily bread. Matthew 6:11

The Lord's prayer is so emphatic. A very strong guideline for every believer. Our text says: "give us this day, our daily bread". The word daily means something that will last aday single day. We shouldn't think or expect that yesterday's anointing or outpour will be sufficient for today. Just like we don't say: "I ate so much yesterday, so I won't be eating today."

It's a pity that today we have part-time believers that only have an encounter with God on service days or Sundays, and through the week, there is nothing of such. God expects believers to depend on Him on daily basis, look unto Him on daily basis, receive from Him on daily basis; that is also why we must seek Him daily.

A lesson we need to learn from the Israelites journey through the wilderness; God promised to feed them with something so unusual and special - The Manna. God told them not to store it till the next day; they should only gather what they can finish in a day. This shows that believers should not depend on what they received yesterday if they want to remain relevant.

We need to take our walk with God one day at a time because yesterday is gone, today is what we have as a present, and tomorrow may never be ours. Jesus taught us to take no thought of tomorrow, this statement did not promise us that we shall live tomorrow, it only tells us that if tomorrow comes, God's daily grace will still be our banner.

Even God's grace, mercy and steadfast love comes new every morning, which is another reason why believers should take our walk with God one day at a time.
