COME CLOSER

COME CLOSER
Text: “Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you” - James 4:8a

Going few miles back to the account of what happened in Exodus 3:1-5; after seeing the stunning sight of the burning bush, Moses knew for sure that He cannot be satisfied with the sight from afar, he came closer to have a clearer look. So is the life of many believers, they only know God from a distance.
Their knowledge of God is also shallow; they have a limited relationship with the Holy Spirit. In fact the Holy Spirit only visits them seldomly. Our Bible text tells us of the need to draw near to God. God would not allow His Spirit to contend or compel any man (Genesis 6:3). He has given man a particular right – which is the right to make choices. He has given us options to choose from; according to Deuteronomy 30:15, He gave us life and death to choose from.

God Himself is in need of men and women that would go to the extreme to keep a relationship of intimacy with Him. He needs you, but He won’t force you; He wants you to make a choice.
There is something of note that God told Moses when He tried coming closer to the scene of the burning bush, God told him to put off his shoes before coming close; the shoes were better described in Hebrew 12:1 -“wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnessing let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us”.  He does not want us to entangle ourselves with the affairs of this world – 2Timothy 2:4. He wants us to be and stay holy. God wants us to come close to him and enjoy greater grace and privilege.

Let this be your heart cry at all times; Philippians 3:10 “That I may know Him, and His power of resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering, being made conformable unto His death.”

YEARN TO KNOW HIM!
