WHAT FLOODS YOUR SUGGESTION BOX?

WHAT FLOODS YOUR SUGGESTION BOX?
(Proverbs 4:23)

Every human has a suggestion box. This suggestion box is where thoughts are being weighed and cross-examined. The Bible refers to this suggestion box as the heart; psychologically, it is called the human mind. Like every suggestion box we have seen; naturally, the mind is open to all sorts of suggestions and ideas. The human mind never rests even when are asleep, it sometimes transform thoughts into dreams.

Before an action is taken, it passes through the mind for endorsement and approval; now it's left to the bearer of the body that houses the mind to decide. In fact, to a large extent, the communication of a natural man is governed by the mind - "...for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks", Matthew 12:34b.

Issues of life, vital issues are decided right in the heart of man. Many people take pleasure in feeding the mind with snares, traps and poisons such as sexual thoughts, explicit images through the eye. Many even go as far as sitting in gatherings that all sort of conversations are held, even those that doesn't edify and bring growth to the spiritual being of man.

King Solomon from his great archive of wisdom was telling us in our Bible text that one thing is needful; the heart must be kept diligently, not with slack hands.

It baffles me that even some so called children of God nurture dirty suggestions and ideas in their heart, dirty thoughts that go ahead to give birth to deceit, contempt, fornication, malice, envy, seditions and so on.

Many believers started well, but they fell short because they conceded to wrong counsels, some mistakenly sat in the gathering of the ungodly, some even felt they couldn't live or survive without listening to worldly music. They stocked their hearts with all sorts of things.

Some spiritual leaders are out there thinking their experience or knowledge is their most important tool; they err! Michael Hyatt said in one of his messages that "It is not your experience, knowledge or skills, your heart is your most important leadership tool." This is true, so true, because, as a suggestions box; different ideas, both good and evil floods in.

Guard your heart jealously because it is an highly valuable asset to you. Develop your heart by reading God's word, if you don't want your heart to become unhealthy and polluted by the standards of the world; then there is need for mind renewal through the word of God, Romans 12:2.

Do not forsake the gathering of the brethren. Other than staying in the midst of the ungodly, attend church fellowships with a heart ready to receive from God.

Remember, "...out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks" - Matthew 12:34b.
