POWER AS OF OLD
(Acts 1:8)
Jesus Christ our Lord gave us an assurance of power that will fill us after the infilling of the Holy Spirit. This power is not like the limited power the world exhibits. There is power in the world and that is what believers wrestle against, Ephesians 6:12.
The power of God is not match for any other power. This power does not intoxicate unduly. It gives courage to the believers who know how to wield it, 2Timothy 1:7.
One amazing thing about this power is that it can never be outdated. This power has no limits. Brothers and sisters, we need this power.
Let me remind you of the champions of old used this power and how men of this age use this same power.
By virtue of this power, Samson shook the camp of the enemies. After devouring a lion with his bare hands - without weapons; he went ahead and slayed a thousand men with the jawbone of a donkey. Even at the point of his death, the Bible recorded that he killed more men.
There is another champion that did things of note, Elijah the Tishbite. Just by words of mouth, declarations and prophecies, Elijah shook the entire world in his time.
Right under Elijah's tutelage was Elisha who succeeded in inheriting double portion of Elijah's power. Asides all the wonders he performed in his life time, he was so full of this power that a mystery ensued at his grave when a dead man was thrown there,
2Kings 13:20-21 "Then Elisha died, and they buried him. And the raiding bands from Moab invaded the land in the spring of the year. So it was, as they were burying a man, that suddenly they spied a band of raiders; and they put the man in the tomb of Elisha; and when the man was let down and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood on his feet."
Peter also caught attentions in the new dispensation; the people at that time knew the efficacy of the power carried by the Apostles; as a result, they laid so many sick people by Peter's route and when he passed by casting his shadow on the sick people, they were made whole again!
This power is still at work today, even as we speak. But one thing is needful: You Must Be A Carrier Of Divine Presence! And for this to happen, you must flee sin and all impurities.
Bishop David Oyedepo said in one his teachings that "the purer you are, the closer God is."
Cry out to God for this power, tell Him you want His power as of old.
